Jack Jay Herriman “Hippie Jack” 77, of Lennon, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August, 30, 2019. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 1:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. His brother, Rev. Thomas Herriman will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00am until the service at 1:00pm.
Jack was born in Flint, Michigan on August 25, 1942 to the late Francis Gilbert and Helen Marie (Koch) Herriman. On December 12, 1977 Jack married Linda Marlene Phillips in Flint. Jack retired from General Motors in Grand Blanc. Jack was a simple man, he enjoyed flying his Ultra Lite, spending time outdoors, and being with is family and friends. He loved his Harley, and was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and also of American Independent Motorcyclist (AIM). While in Tennessee, Jack and Linda were members of the South Marshall Volunteer Fire Department. When Jack was a child and living in Flint, he survived the Beecher Tornado on June 8, 1953.
Jack is survived by his son, Tim (Debbie Ross) of Lennon, his brother, Rev. Thomas (Barbara) Herriman of Georgia, and lifelong friends, Chris and Rochelle Gooch.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Linda on June 13, 2013, his son Jack in June of 2014, and his sister Phyllis.
