STEWART, Lawrence D. – of Montrose, Age 86, died Monday, August 19, 2013, at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 400 N. Saginaw St. in Montrose. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Wednesday from 2-8 PM where a scripture service will take place at 7 PM. He will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Lawrence was born September 1, 1926, in Flint to the late Clifton and Rose (Cieslewicz) Stewart. He lived in Montrose most of his life. He served in the US Army Air Corp. Mr. Stewart married Jean Anne Belill on June 20, 1953, in Flint. He was an engineer and retired from GM in 1992 with over 47 years seniority. He was a member of the Montrose Blueberry Festival Committee for 12 years and was its president for 5 years, served on the Montrose Village Council, and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golfing.

Surviving are: wife, Jean Anne; children, Lawranne (Mark Kantor) Stewart of Washington, DC, Rebecca Salvati of Grand Blanc, Scott Stewart of Saginaw, David (fiance Lisa Bullinger) Stewart of Clarkston; grandchildren, Kyle Salvati of Big Rapids and Kara (David) Salvati-Roth of Martinez, GA; and a nephew, Bill Harris of TX. He was also preceded in death by: son-in- law, Dr. David Salvati; sister, Evelyn Harris; and a niece, Sandy Harris.
