KIENITZ, Joan – Of Fenton, age 79, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her residence.

Joan was born on April 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Henry and Genevieve (Cashin) Dagner.

Joan married Frederick Kienitz on February 3, 1962. They raised their 3 children in Swartz Creek, Michigan and moved to Fenton, Michigan after retirement.

She loved traveling, singing and fundraising with Sweet Adeline’s International, and bargain shopping.

Joan was an active member of the Loose Senior Center in Linden and a member of the Moose Lodge.

She was a devout member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She served on and led various committees both regionally and internationally for Sweet Adeline’s, receiving a lifetime Membership Award and she sang with them for 55 years.

Joan graduated from Western Michigan University and University of Michigan.

Mrs. Kienitz was a teacher at Grand Blanc Community Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She belonged to the Retired School Personnel for Southwest Genesee County.

Joan leaves to celebrate her memory,
three children, Jill Kienitz, Daniel Kienitz (Abba)and Kathryn Cintron (Miguel);
three grandchildren, Jenavieve, Hannah (Zac) and Jameson;

great-granddaughter, Vanna;

one great-grandson, Jameson;

three step-grandchildren;
several nieces, nephews; her beloved dog, Miner.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made in Joan’s name to the following organizations, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School-Fenton, Grand Blanc Community Schools, Regional 2 Sweet Adeline’s International Regional to assist Young Women in Harmony, Harmony Foundation Incorporated or Young Singers Foundation of Sweet Adeline’s International.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 North Adelaide Street, Fenton, Father Todd Koenigsknecht officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation 4-8 p.m. Saturday, 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. There will be no visitation held on Monday.

A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
