POWELL, Gerald L. “Bud” - Of Swartz Creek, age 64, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012
at Great Lakes National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring, may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Bud was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on March 25, 1947 the son of John and Mary (Jones) Powell. Bud served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On November 21, 1994, he married Cherie A. Mee (Gareau) (Bacha) in Reno, Nevada. Gerry was employed with Michigan Bell – Ameritech, then AT & T for 25 + years. He was a member of VFW Post #4087 Davison. Bud enjoyed playing cards, bowling and fishing.
Surviving are wife, Cherie;
sister, Chris (Harold) Floyd of Grand Blanc;
brothers, Larry “Peanut” (Teresa) McKinney of VA and Bob McKinney of NC.
daughters, Leslie Huntley of Florida, Toni Moran of Michigan, Ashley Powell of Florida;
grandchildren, Tayler, Zacary and Austin;
and great-grandson, Bentley.
