Janet J. “Jenny” (Gwizdz) Hyde, age 95 of Flint passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. She was born on December 10, 1923 in Flint to parents Frank and Rozalie (Kalemba) Gwizdz. Jenny graduated from All Saints in 1942 and then attended St. Camillus School of Nursing in Kalamazoo from 1946 to 1947. In November of 1947 she married the love of her life L. Joseph Hyde, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1986. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 1986 at 62 years old as the head nurse and continued to work for 22 years as a visiting nurse until she was 84 years old. Jenny was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, serving on the Rosary Society, and later a member at St. Mary Catholic Church. Jenny is survived by her three sons: Frank (Theresa) Hyde, Mark (Michele) Hyde, and Paul (Susan) Hyde; 10 grandchildren: Sarah (Jay) Ducap, Amy (Dennis) Weist, Frank (Kassie) Hyde, Joseph Hyde, Aaron Hyde, Andrew Hyde, Amanda (James) Thomason, Andrea (Matthew) Taneyhill, Elizabeth (Tae Brown) Hyde, and George Edward Hyde; seven great grandchildren: Aiden, Owen, Charlotte Rose, Mason, Harlow, Alexis, and Henry; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, L. Joseph Hyde; sisters: Ann Mitoraj, Hedy Ruth, Frances Hibbard, Irene Artrip, and Mary Valkoon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint. Father Thomas Firestone celebrating. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 11am until 8pm at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, with a Rosary Service at 7pm. Family will receive visitors at church one hour prior to mass, beginning at 10am. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. |
