Michael was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 18, 1952, son of the late Carl and Myrtle (Ohler) Smith.
He was a very gifted artist, loved fishing, working on cars and was very funny and enjoyed making people laugh.
Surviving are partner and best friend of 20 years, Margaret;
children, Michael II and wife Angela Smith,
Gentle Little, Amanda (Wendell) Hagele,
Anthony Hagele and Jessica Watkins;
brothers, Terry and wife Dawn Smith,
Dale, Mark and Danny Smith;
9 grandchildren;
many nieces, nephews; great-niece, Rowan Shorez.
