COOK, Robin - Of Grand Blanc, age 67, died, losing his fight with cancer on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at home, with his family
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020, celebrating his life at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Contributions may be made to the World Wildlife Federation.
Visitation 2 p.m. Thursday until the time of the memorial service at the funeral home.
Rob was born in Flint, Michigan on October 25, 1952, the son of
Oral and Lillie (Brown) Cook.
He was a member of Averill Avenue Church of Christ.
He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1970.
On May 18, 1974 he married Judy Faye Cochran of Davison.
He grew up learning and loving to hunt and fish with his father at their cottage in St. Helen, Michigan. His love of hunting and fishing carried on throughout his life, with his two sons, wife and many special friends.
He also enjoyed camping, canoeing, skiing and spending time at his cottage on Bass Lake in Interlochen, Michigan, especially with his family and friends.
Rob never met a stranger, and loved to cook, so no one ever left his home without a good hot meal.
He was a fan of sports; all of Detroit’s sports, Detroit Tigers, being his favorite, as he said the baseball season was longer and more games to watch. Michigan Wolverines, his favorite college team, enjoying the games with family and many special friends.
Rob hired into GM and was a member of UAW Local #599 in 1976, retiring after 30 years of service, on October 1, 2005.
Surviving are wife, Judy;
sons, Garrett Alan and fiancee’ JacLyn and their daughter, RaeLynn of Portage, Michigan and
Michael Robert of Grand Blanc;
brother, Michael (Diane) of Montgomery, TX;
sister, Cynthia Lou of Flint;
aunt, Wynette Gentz of Florida;
nephews, Lieutenant Robert Watters of Flint, Joshua (Samantha) Nunn of Hamilton, AL, and their children, Indie and Oliver and Jeffrey Nunn of Hamilton, AL;
nieces, Devin Marie (Chasity) Cook of Pflugerville , TX,
Stephanie (Austin) Tallman of Christiana, TN and
Madison Nunn of Hamilton, AL;
mother-in-law, Beatris Nunn of Hamilton, AL;
sisters-in-law, Sherrie (Jim) Hugan of Swartz Creek and Vicki Nunn of Hamilton, AL;
many cousins and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oral D. Cook, in 2002; mother, Lillie Marie Cook, in 2011; sister, Patricia Watters, in 2006 and her husband Captain Robert Watters, in 2019; father-in-law, Cecil Nunn, in 2010; sister-in-law, Freida Nelson, in 1989; brother-in-law, Timothy Nunn, in 2017 and sister-in-law, Mary Anne Cook, in 2014.
