POWERS, Betty - of Clio, age 88, died on Friday, June 19, 2020 at McLaren Flint. A Celebration of Christian Burial will take place on at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Ken Coughlin officiating. A private family visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan. Burial will be held at West Vienna Cemetery.
Betty was born January 12, 1932 in Princeville, Illinois to the late Frederick and Vena (Walker) Kaupp. She was raised in Flint and graduated from Flint Northern High School. She worked at A.C. Spark Plug for a number of years. On May 2, 1953 she married Jerome “Jerry” Powers. He preceded her in death August 15, 2015. Betty was primarily a homemaker and mother, together raising 5 children. She was a faithful parishioner at Ss. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Although Betty was a quiet person she was involved socially with the Ladies Cooperative Extension and an antique auto club where she and Jerry enjoyed showing many cars they restored, their latest being a 1936 Packard. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening flowers and vegetables, and reading. She also volunteered with the Red Cross and Hurley Hospital. Betty thoroughly enjoyed going out to dinner with friends and family. She loved her church, traveling by airplane, and ice cream!
Betty is survived by: Children: Sue Ann (Randy) Tatro of Grand Blanc, Sandra (Warren) Leslie of North Carolina, Michael Powers of Conroe Texas, Lisa (Bronlow) Miller of Mayville, Donna Gilling of Metamora; many grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Sisters: Shirley Towns, Connie (Ronald) Jacob; She was preceded in death by Brothers: Don Kaupp, Jerry Kaupp; Sister: Ruth Blaine; Please share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
