Luella Mae Sanders, a beacon of love and creativity, embarked on her eternal journey on October 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of joy and inspiration. Born on May 15, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, Luella's life was a tapestry of cherished moments and heartfelt connections. Her departure from this world occurred peacefully at Maplewood Manor, surrounded by the love of her family.

Luella's life was one marked by an unwavering faith and an exuberant passion for the simple pleasures. She was a devoted mother to her children, Eddie Sanders III, Jim (Patti) Sanders, Joanne (Al) Smith, Sharon LeClear, and Karen (Jeff) Burt. Luella's love multiplied with each addition to her family, as she was blessed with her grandchildren: Jennie (Andrew), Leia (Bryan), Andria (Justin), Cory (Crystal), Carrie, Tera (Nick), Kristina (Nick), Tommy (Amanda), Nick, Jeffrey (Alex), Zach (Brooke), Aaron, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her heart held a special place for her close friends Dolores, Joanne, Lee, and Nicole, in-laws Mary (Jack), sisters in law Marie and Betty, nieces and nephews were among many others who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Before she was called to her heavenly home, Luella's life was a testament to the power of community and friendship. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and a familiar face at the Clio Senior Center, where her laughter was contagious. Her commitment to others was evident in her involvement with TOPS, where she encouraged and supported many on their journeys.

Luella's zest for life shone brightly through her hobbies and interests. She had attended Mayfair Bible Church and Montrose Baptist Church. She was an avid lover of bingo, scrabble, and other word games, finding joy in the challenge and camaraderie they brought. Crafting was not just a pastime for Luella; it was a way of sharing her creative spirit. She took pleasure in playing cards with her friends, a testament to her love for social interaction and her competitive edge. Dollar store shopping was more than a chore; it was an adventure for Luella, as she sought out treasures with an eye for the unique and whimsical.

Her poetry was a window into her soul, capturing the essence of her experiences and emotions. Luella's home was a reflection of her artistic flair, always adorned with decorations that spoke to her playful and imaginative nature. Family get-togethers were events filled with laughter and love, as Luella cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially on holidays. The daily ritual of gathering with friends for coffee and prayer was a source of strength and comfort for her, a time that nourished her faith-filled heart.

Luella's life can be encapsulated in the words loving, faith-filled, and creative. She approached each day with a spirit of optimism and a belief in the goodness of people. As the motivational speaker Les Brown once said, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Luella embodied this sentiment, reaching for the stars in every aspect of her life and inspiring others to do the same.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Castle and Violet, her stepfather Thurman, and her brothers Loren, Earl, Ernest, and Gerald. Her son-in-law Tom, daughter-in-law Debbie, close friends Dorothy, Barbara, Faye, also passed before her, leaving a space that she filled with memories and honor.
