Carl P. Schisler age 78 of Gaines passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his home. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gaines. Rev. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will be officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 PM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Carl was born January 18, 1938 in Owosso, MI a son of Charles and Laura (Perry) Schisler. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1956-1959 stationed in Kagnew Station, Ethiopia. He was a Durand Police officer from 1960-1961. In 1962 he married Maureen Doucette. Prior to his retirement he was employed by General Motors from 1961-1991. Carl enjoyed flying private planes. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and a Little League coach. He was a member the D.V.A., Gaines Community Council, Pinehill Community Park Board and Knights of Columbus.

Carl is survived by his wife, Maureen; children, Sandra Thomas, Sheila Bearden, Steven (Pam) Schisler, Scott Schisler, Stuart (Joette) Schisler and Shaun (Amanda) Schisler; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, Irwin; half-brothers, Galen and Eric; and half-sister, Naomi.
