GOFORTH, Dovy Marjorie - of Burton, MI, age 89, was called home by the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held 10am Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Eastgate Baptist Church, 4226 E Atherton Rd, Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Jerome Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Tuesday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Dovy was born in Parma, Missouri on January 24, 1931, daughter of the late John and Nora (Ramsey) Ellis. She married Lytle “Bud” Goforth in Flint, MI on April 15, 1967, and he preceded her in death July 26, 1999. Dovy worked for several years at Dawn Donuts and Donna’s Donuts. Dovy loved the Lord and gave of herself to others. She always had an open heart and an open door. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and loved nature.
Dovy is survived by daughter, Debi (James) Howard; grandchildren, Daniel (Martha) Cox, Kimberly (Steve) Ballard, and Neena Hudson; special niece, Mary Ratza; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Ryerson, Morgan and Carter Cox; nieces and nephews; and her special adopted families. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Cox on October 5, 2012 and her daughter, Virginia Ellen Goforth on August 8, 2020; brother, Odda Trotter; sisters, Margaret Barnes, and Nina Cowan.
