LECHOTA-WARD, Sophia Carrie - Of Swartz Creek, age 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Courtyard Manor in Swartz Creek.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church,4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek,
Father Louis Ekka officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org or St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church
Visitation 2-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Sophia was born in Gaylord, Michigan on July 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Ben and Marcella Respecki. She married Joseph Lechota on January 8, 1948 and resided in Flint. After his death, she married Michael V. Ward and resided in Swartz Creek.
Surviving are son, Robert (Deborah) Lechota;
daughter, Joyce (Steve) Loncarevic, Susan (Ron) Murray and Judith (Jeff) Berry;
13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;
sisters and brother, Theresa Gwost, Clara (Stanley) Wilhite, Rose (Harold) Woodliff, Joseph (Gloria) Respecki, Ursula (Alex) Prusakiewicz;
sister-in-law, Phyllis (Carl) Respecki;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Lechota and Michael V. Ward, sons, Ronald (Keke) and Richard Lechota, her twin sister, Carrie Cummings, sister, Joan Vlaming, brothers, James Sirmier and Frank Respecki.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Courtyard Manor and Kindred Hospice for their tender, loving care.
