Duane Dost, age 79, of Mayville, MI passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky, MI.
Funeral services will be 11AM Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Mills Memorial Baptist Church in Mayville, MI, with Pastor Sam Reece officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI, and 10 AM Thursday until time of service at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Mayville Alumni Association, Silverwood United Methodist Church or Mills Memorial Baptist Church.
Duane was born January 12, 1935 in Mayville, MI the son of the late Paul J. and Marie (Trischler) Dost. He was a 1952 graduate of Mayville High School and married Erlinda Titus on June 23, 1956 in Mayville , MI.. Duane retired from Buick Motor Division after 38 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of the Silverwood/Mayville area. Duane enjoyed farming, raising his beef cattle, bowling, playing cards, sports, playing softball, blooper ball, umpiring for the old Flo-Clara Inn team, and coaching little league.
He is survived by his wife Erlinda of Mayville, MI, one son: Mark D. (Christina) Dost of Mayville, MI, two brothers: Paul T. Dost of Caro, MI and Harold (Joann) Dost of Silverwood, MI, two sisters: Betty Norrington and Alice Lynch of Caro, MI., many nieces and nephews. Special friends Charlie and Ronda Beadle of North Branch, MI. Special grandchildren Kaela Foor and Jacob Foor along with their parents Jeff and Tammy Foor of Mayville, MI.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Virginia Beedle, two brothers: Charles Beedle and Donald Dost, brothers-in-law: Thomas Lynch, Sr., Wilbur Norrington, sisters-in-law: Margaret (Burge) Beedle, Freida Dost, Sara Dost, nephews: Ronald Dost, Dennis Beedle, Charles Dost, and Thomas Lynch Jr.
