Larry George Patten, age 68 of Lapeer, passed away March 4th, 2016. Larry retired from Buick in 1999. He was dedicated to adopting black labradors from animal rescues, including his beloved lab, Ben. Larry participated in the Wayne State University & Karmanos Cancer Institute research study to help determine the causes of lung cancer, with the hopes to help develop treatments for the disease.
Larry is survived by his daughter Teresa (David) Wamsley of Burton and son Jason Patten of Flint; grandchildren Michael, Renae, Kirsten, and Danielle; step-granddaughters Kathleen and Victoria; several great grandchildren; brother Kenneth Patten; sisters Phyllis and Darlene. ??Preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Patten and Evelyn Patten, nee. Williamson; sister Lucille; brothers Floyd and Vernon. ??Friends may visit on Monday, March 7th from 4 to 9 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8th at 11:00 AM at Lynch & Sons. A graveside service at Stiles Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to INHALE Lung Cancer Study are greatly appreciated.
