Velma A. Watkins age 97 of Goodrich, passed away May 29, 2018 at home. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, June 2, 2018 at Dodds-Dumanois Funeral Home, 901 Garland St. Flint. Family will receive visitors from 11:30 am, Saturday until time of service. Burial in Meadowview cemetery; Pastor Joshua Combs officiating. Velma was born August 6, 1920 in Rector, Arkansas to Samuel and Annie Mae Britt. She married Vopel L. Watkins in Jonesboro, Arkansas on December 26, 1937. They moved to Michigan in 1955. She was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother who raised 9 children with such unconditional love. She loved the church and going to senior dances with the love of her life. She leaves behind 6 of her 9 children: Ann Toombs, Buddy Watkins (Patty Martin), Don (Janice) Watkins, Allen (Diana) Watkins, Kimberly Sheehan (Rob Johnson), and Kent (Janet) Watkins, Daughter in law - Shelley Watkins, Son in law - Tim Lacey, 23 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband - Vopel, her daughter and son in law - Sandra and Joseph Lipford, grandson - Joseph Bryan Lipford, son - Philip Watkins, daughter -Kathy Renee' Lacey, and son in law - Tommy Tombs |
