Ferguson, Robert of Flushing, age 92, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Rev. Teresa Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of the service. A Masonic memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Robert was born in Swartz Creek, Michigan on November 5, 1925, the son of Charles and Cornelia (Jones) Ferguson. He married JoAnn Rayburn in Flushing on October 2, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2003. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He was employed by Fisher Body, retiring after over 30 years. Robert was a life member of Flushing Masonic Lodge, #223 F & AM. He loved gardening, woodworking and going to garage sales. His greatest joy was his family, friends, and beloved Bassett Hound, Ben.
Robert is survived by his children, Mary and husband Craig Blight of Lewis Center, Ohio, Charles Ferguson and wife Carol of Farmington Hills, Donald Ferguson of Traverse City; grandchildren, Andrew and wife Sherry Blight, Sara Blight, Rachel Ferguson, Connor Ferguson, Gabrielle Corbin, Ashton Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Arianna; and dear friends, Bruce Conklin and Chuck Carter. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Bostrom.
