STARR, Gayla- of Burton, age 72, passed away February 13, 2016 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 10AM Friday, February 19, 2016 at Davison Missionary Church, 1481 N. Gale Rd., Davison; Pastor Morris Moos officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8PM Wednesday and 2-8PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan’s Purse or The American Cancer Society.
Gayla was born in Fort Wayne, IN on April 1, 1943, daughter of the late Paul and Alta (Leatherman) Pontious. She married Gordon Starr on August 17, 1963. Gayla was a Cosmetologist and owned Touch of Class Salon in Florida. She also owned Oxford Pools for 14 years. Gayla loved all types of gospel music.
Gayla is survived by her husband, Gordon; three children, Garrett (Barbara Dawn), Gidget (Bob) Phillips, Garth (Jenny); nine grandchildren, Wesley, Jarrett, Jessica, Whitney, Austin, Abritt, Madison, Brooklynn, Chloe; three great-grandchildren, Teagen, Tyson, Tate; seven siblings, Myrna (Dick) Hofer, Jim (Charlene) Iseler, Gwen Breault, Brad (Mary Lou) Iseler, Doug (Mary Ann) Iseler, Vanda (Dan) Yaroch, Stan (Jamie) Iseler. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Bruning; step-father, Robert Iseler.
