Joseph Steven Dedic Jr.
Age 94 of Owosso passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the same family farm that he was born and raised on. Joseph was born December 26, 1929 , the son of Joseph and Mary (Krhovsky) Dedic.

Joe attended Owosso Public Schools- he left school before graduation to join the US Army. He served 4 years, where he was based in Anchorage, Alaska serving in the Korean War.. He was discharged on June 1952. He cherished the time spent with his forever love Conchita (Connie), He married Connie in Corunna on February 19, 1965 and together they had their daughter Teresa Jo.
After his time in the service Joe worked a short time at general motors and then went to Midland Ross of Owosso where he eventually opened Dedic Sinclair Gas and Service Station with his younger brother Stanley who were both self-taught mechanics. This opened several doors for Joe. With Stan by his side as well as his brother-in-law Duane they started to race in the late 60’s, leading them to several weekends spent around the state at different racetracks with his car of choice being his camaro. With the service station he serviced the general telephone trucks and vans daily and he was later offered the head mechanic position at the phone company, where he retired in 1991. He couldn't let the ground settle under his feet and he knew that he and Connie needed to purchase the Dedic Family farm that he was born and raised on. His love for crop farming soon grew to raising livestock where he sent his grandchildren Darcie and Jordan to a cattle auction with a blank check and that is how D&P Livestock was started. The barns were revamped to hold the larger animals, besides cattle the farm grew to goats, pigs and lambs. With the lambs came his best buddies Jenni and Penni, his donkeys. D&P Livestock has grown to DGP Livestock after Joe added another member to his farming family, grandson Tyler. He was always up for some polkas and a nice cold Stroh’s he was known for his “We’d better just have one more” before going in for the night.
Joseph was a life member of the Shiawassee Conservation Association where he was the clubs president for well over 10 years and still held a position on their bar committee to this day. Joseph enjoyed playing a round of Euchre and shot Shuffleboard with the Cons Club 1 team for over 20 years. He was a member of the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association where he looked forward to getting his show tractors cleaned up every year for the show as well as the annual tractor crossing across the Mackinac Bridge every fall. He was a proud supporter of the Shiawassee Junior Livestock where he was a major advocate for the 4-H community. He was one of the major supporters in getting the small animal auction started at the Shiawassee County Fair. He was involved with the Corunna FFA and looked forward to the chapter's many events throughout the year, his favorites being the grain show and the labor auction. Besides agriculture he had a strong love for hunting that created the Grey Ryders Camp in Ralph Michigan. Later the Grey Ryders established a permanent home in Detour Michigan where he enjoyed that November hunting trip with his nephew Jerry Dedic, good friend Brian Bukovick and their hunting scout son in law Jim Pudelko.
