LESTER, Thurman - age 84, of Fenton, formerly of Wolford, VA, passed away February 14, 2017 at Genesys hospital surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Willis Hurley officiating. Interment will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to any Hospice Group of choice or Alzheimer's Association.
Thurman was born May 27, 1932 in Phelps, KY the son of Emery and Cosby (Blankenship) Lester. He married his sweetheart, Ruby Estep on May 23, 1953 in Virginia; this May would have been their 64th anniversary. Thurman served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic in Korea.
Thurman is survived by: his beloved wife, Ruby; three children, Danny (Jeanette) Lester of Fenton, Debra (Alan) of Lake Leelanau, Michael (Samantha) Lester of North Carolina; 6 grandchildren, Chuck (Sonya) Justice, Brenda (Mike) Miller, Amanda (Tony) Hall, Ashley Perry, Aaron Lester, Skylar Lester; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dan Lester; four brothers, Scott, Guy, Blaine, Don; and sister, Eva. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfunealhomes.com
