Stone, Anne (Wiemers) of Flushing, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 745 E. Main St., Flushing. Rev. Barbara Cavin will officiate. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Outreach Program of Trinity Episcopal Church or Genesee County Humane Society.
Anne was born in Marietta, Ohio on October 20, 1932, the daughter of Julius and Eloise Anne (Chapman) Wiemers. She married Richard Douglas Stone in Marietta, Ohio on June 6, 1954. Anne graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Marietta College in 1954. She was president of the local chapter of Sigma Kappa. She worked as a Medical Technologist in the lab at Flint Osteopathic Hospital for 30 years. Anne was a member of Genesee County Weavers Guild, Flushing Art Network and Trinity Episcopal Altar Guild. She spent her time volunteering with the Flushing Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) and Springview Elementary School for several years. Anne enjoyed international travel, water color painting, and weaving. Most of all, Anne loved her husband, Dick and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dick; children, David and wife Dee Stone of Mattawan, Richard D. Stone, Jr. and wife Mary Gusie of Grand Blanc, Ginnie and husband Kevin Doerfler of Portage; grandchildren, Steven (Amanda) Stone of Mattawan, Lindsay and Michael Stone of Grand Rapids, Tara (Jon) Blahnik of Grand Rapids, Lauren Doerfler of Marquette, Courtney (Dan) Lupu of Texas and Ryan Gusie of Rochester, MI; great-grandchildren, Allie, Dylan, Taylor and Gavin Stone, Jayden, Jackson and Drake Blahnik; nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Wiemers. |
