CHADWICK, Doris E. - Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Genesys Convalescent Center.
Funeral service will be held 10am Saturday, November 9, 2013
at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc,
Pastor Todd A. Biermann officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund at Faith Lutheran Church.
Visitation 6-8pm Thursday and 1-3pm and 6-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. The family will accept visitors Saturday at church beginning at 9am.
Doris was born in Saginaw, MI on July 27, 1926, the daughter of the late Harry and Ella (Hollman) Anderson. On May 6, 1950, she married Robert Chadwick in Saginaw. Doris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was very involved with the Young at Heart Group, Journey to Bethlehem, Vacation Bible School, Parish Nurses, KOOL and many others. Doris and her friends enjoyed knitting hats for babies and mittens for the homeless. She was also a volunteer at Genesys Hospital. Doris and Robert enjoyed traveling. They were married for 63 ½ years and have kept in close contact with a wide circle of friends.
Surviving are husband Robert;
children, Wayne and wife Michele of Grand Blanc, Carol and husband Gilbert Barrera and Susan and husband Guy French both of San Antonio, Texas;
14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;
1 niece and 1 nephew and a host of very special friends.
Doris was preceded in death by a brother and a nephew.
