CECIL, Dennis "Denny" Leon - age 74 of Byron, died April 14, 2024. A memorial / celebration of life will be held at 3 PM Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Pine Hill Park, 12135 Ray Road, Gaines, MI 48436. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in honor of Denny, which will be directed to dementia research or youth sports. Denny was born January 19, 1950, in Durand, the son of Richard and Eleanor (Meier) Cecil. He married Nanette Cormier on September 20, 1980. Denny worked at United Tree Service for most of his career and was a volunteer fireman for several years. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, Nascar and other sports and he was a loyal MSU fan! Denny was a beloved basketball coach and baseball coach for his children and their friends. He loved the Lord and attended the Rock Church. Surviving are: wife, Nanette; five children, Dennis (Dana) Cecil, Stacie (Scott) Hegarty, Neil (Sara) Cecil, Brian (Randi) Cecil, and Scott (Audrey) Cecil; grandchildren, Abby (Luke) Stripling, Maddie, Nick, Sam, and Ben Hegarty, Madoline, Emma, and Easton Cecil, Bryce, Hannah, Adrienne, Ava, and Grace Cecil, Wyatt and Sadie Cecil; two great-granddaughters, June Stripling and Layla Hegarty; sister, Lana (Larry) Arndt; mother-in-law, Donna Cormier; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandson, Logan Cecil; sister, Linda Sholtey; and father-in-law, Deacon Currie Cormier. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
