FRIEDMAN, Rae - age 83 (1932-2016) was born in the Bronx,New York to Samuel and Fannie Goldstein. She lived there until about age 30 when she and her mother moved to Detroit. (Her father died when she was 15). Rae and her mother were also near her brother Dr. Sidney Goldstein and family who lived Oak Park.She was working at the Detroit Cheese Company when Frank met her 53 years ago. Later she was employed at King Engineering in Ann Arbor while Frank pursued his graduate studies at the U. of Michigan. They moved to Flint in 1963 when he began to teach French and English and direct a foreign language lab at Mott Community College. He retired from there in 1995. Rae, my darling wife and a great caregiver took care of our handicapped son Sammy born in 1967 and who died at age 38 of kidney failure. She leaves her darling husband Frank "Maury" of 53 years, her sister-in-law Ruthie Goldstein of LA, her niece Susan Cutler of Valley Village, CA her nephew, Dr. Larry Goldstein, of LA, a surgeon. Another niece Rosalie died a few years ago of uterine cancer. Rae and husband Frank belonged to Congregation Beth Israel, Flint and Chabad also of Flint. She will be greatly missed. Funeral graveside services was held Thursday, May 5 , 2 PM at Machpelah Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, Cong. Beth Israel, Flint, or Chabad of Flint, or the charity or organization of one's choice.
