MCILROY, Charlene Rebecca – Of Grand Blanc, age 73, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
Charlene was born in Flint, Michigan on September 10, 1946, the daughter of the late Harold and Betty (Weible) McElfresh.
On October 1, 1966 she married William “Jarrel” McIlroy in Flint.
Mrs. McIlroy was a Registered Oncology Nurse and worked at St. Joseph Hospital and retired from Genesys Hospital in 2000.
She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church, American Airlines Association and the Elks Club.
Charlene was an avid reader, loved traveling, becoming acquainted with and knowledgeable about different cultures; fine dining and good Chardonnay.
She was very sociable and fashionable and enjoyed going to the salon and being pampered.
Charlene was passionate about taking care of the needy.
Surviving are husband, William “Jarrel”;
children, Dawn Hatfield, William Jarrel McIlroy II and wife Kim, Nicole and husband Mark Steeves;
grandchildren, Halee (Tom), Joshua, Kaitlin, Gwendolyn, Meghan and Desmond;
brother, Ronald McElfresh;
many nieces, nephews and special aunt, Gladys Marie Lacina.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joseph Hatfield and step-father, Roy Linton.
