Michael was born in Flint, Michigan on April 19, 1984, the son of Jeffrey and Jackie (Grizzle) Phillips. He attended Birch Run Schools. He was an avid outdoorsman and hockey fan. Michael was funny and generous to everyone he knew. He was also an animal lover.
Michael is survived by his mother and step-father, Jackie and Richard Rankl; siblings, Christopher and wife Kristin Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Emily Rankl; nieces, Alivia and Aslyn; paternal grandparents, Larry and Shirley Phillips; girlfriend Tyoni Lee; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey; and maternal grandparents, Jack Grizzle and Donna Fricke.
