HOWELL, Melvin R. – Of Flint, age 86, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Heartwood Lodge in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Eric Stewart officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
The family requests that contributions be made to American Diabetes Association.
Visitation 2-8pm Monday and 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Howell was born in Flint on June 21, 1929 the son of the late
Carl and Lucille Howell and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. He served in the United States Army, post-World War II, receiving The Army of Occupation Medal. He married Agnes Pavich on July 8, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2012. Melvin was employed with Consumers Power, retiring in 1985 after over 30 years of service. He also served on a Consumers Power Local Union Board. He enjoyed flying model airplanes and was an avid model maker.
Surviving are sons, Tom and wife Lisa, Dennis and wife Debra;
5 grandchildren;
6 great-grandchildren;
2 sisters, Helen Adams and Peg Howell.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Dave.
