BANYAS, Nancy A. – of Davison, age 88, passed away June 28, 2013 at The Cottage of Davison surrounded by her three loving children. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM – 3 PM & 5-8 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be two hours of visitation prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cottage of Davison, McLaren Hospice or a charity of one’s choice
Nancy was born in Flint, MI on February 4, 1925, daughter of the late Fred and Jesse (Ebach) Wedding. She married her high school sweetheart, Andrew Frank Banyas on September 7, 1946 in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2009 after 63 years of marriage. Nancy graduated from Otisville High School in 1943. She graduated from Hurley School of Nursing in 1946. She was a member of the United States Nurse Corps and worked at St. Joseph Hospital. Nancy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, charter member of the Davison Country Club and a lifetime member of the Knit and Needle Club. Nancy enjoyed golfing, wintering in Bradenton Beach, FL and spending time with her adoring family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her children, Steve (Beryl) Banyas, Cheryl (Jim) Barhitte and Diane (Michael Beito) Banyas; grandchildren, Pam (Ed) Hennig, Kerri (Andy) Grizzle, Drew (Kerri) Banyas, Josh Barhitte and Jessica Barhitte; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Sophie, Madyson, Harrison and Eden; sisters-in-law, Faye Wedding and Patty Banyas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Wedding in 1999. A special thanks to Kim Mitchell, Hilde and Dean, and the rest of the caring staff at The Cottage of Davison: Kim C., Kim P., Kim M., Peggy, Becky, Tammy, Jessica, Carol, Clint and Stephanie, along with the McLaren Hospice team of Ann, Tami, Sy, Gene and Makella.
