AVETTA, Ruth A. - Of Flint, age 89, died Sunday, December 7, 2014.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1pm Wednesday, December 10, 2014
at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steven Anderson officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North End Soup Kitchen or Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Visitation 3-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Ruth was born in Flint on March 1, 1925. She married Stephen Avetta on April 18, 1953. Ruth’s gift of humor brought joy to anyone who knew her. Her listening skills and good advice will be missed by many.
Surviving are daughters, Nina (Danny) Shadid, Diane (James) Shaheen, Linda Nayfa, Theresa (Keith) Williams, AnneMarie (Michael) VanTol;
grandchildren, Leah, Evan, Bryan, David, Carly (Renard), Ross, Madeline, Alex, Chloe and Jason;
sister-in-law, Blanche Alex;
and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and special neighbors.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, who passed on December 7, 2002, parents, John and Mary Alex, brothers, Alec, Charlie, Tom, sister, Catherine Howrani.
