GENOVESI, Joseph Dante Sr.--Age 83, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday October 23, 2013 at his residence. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, Fr. Nate Sokol celebrant. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Saturday, 1-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Sunday. Visitation will be Monday at the church from 10 AM until time of mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Masses.
Joe was born September 19, 1930 in Baltic MI.,the son of Oliver and Anna (Franzoi) Genovesi. He married Barbara Walker on March 12, 1949 in Flint. He dedicated his life to his family and his grandchildren. He was employed at General Motors for 30 Years retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, the outdoor squirrels, and plowing snow with his tractor.
Surviving are:beloved wife of 64 years Barbara; 10 children, Linda (Bill) Traylor, Kathleen, Joseph Jr. (Dawn), Tony (Crys), Angelo (Susan), Mary, Mario(Sarah), Delano (Bonnie), Geno, and Monica; sister Edith Johns; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grand children.
A special thanks to Dr. VanDuyne and Linda, the McLaren Cancer Institute staff, and Heartland Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Joe during his journey.
