GARLAND, (Drewett) Winona Marie – of Mt. Morris, age 96, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family. Honoring Winona’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Winona was born August 27, 1923 in Flint, Michigan to the late Raymond and Florence (Gerrin) Rayfield. She grew up in Flint, Michigan and attended Beecher High School. She married Herschel Drewett in 1940 and he preceded her in death. She then married Wendell Garland in 1959 and he also preceded her in death. Winona was known as Winnie the Welder at Buick when she took over her husband’s job when he left for the war. Winona was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Post # 3087. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and was a seamstress making her children’s clothing. She was also a great cook and was known for her fudge, cakes, pies and red eye gravy.
Surviving are: Children, Shirley Perkins, David Drewett, Deejay ( Fred) Ortiz, Lavant (Lavonda) Drewett, Marji (Steve) Connor; Grandchildren, Michael Ferris, Cherie (Mike) Acker, Angela (Dan) Zuknick, Vanessa (Mike) Polzin, Andria (Mark) Ayre, David (Melissa) Beaudoin, Courtni (Phillip) Nasseri, Alvin Cornick, Kayla (Justin) Whisenhunt, Kaitlyn Drewett, Justin Bowdish; 25 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husbands, Herschel Drewett, Wendell Garland; Sister, Myrtie Warner; Sons in law, Gary Perkins, Joseph Nowosielski.
