Donna (Lineberry) Covert, formerly of Grand Blanc and Burton, age 91, died peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2010 at Maple Woods Manor, Clio, Michigan three weeks after recovering from COVID-19. Donna was born in Flint, Michigan on June 27, 1928 to John and Pearl Lineberry. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1947. She served a hitch in the U.S. Naval Air Force in the 1950’s as a Control Tower Dispatcher. She married N. Charles Covert. She had one child, Catherine. Donna and Charles divorced in the 1960’s. She worked at A.C. Spark Plug in Flint during the 60’s and 70’s. Donna was a true nature lover. She loved the great outdoors. Donna and her sister, Dorothy, camped and fished together well into their golden years. They took many road trips together. They loved to travel and find new wonders of nature to awe. Donna found beauty in simple things like sunrises and sunsets, moonlit waters, the call of loons, the flight of geese and even thunderstorms. She loved to write poems, children’s stories and song lyrics. She was an avid reader of all sorts of books (except romance novels!). She loved spooky movies and especially “The Walking Dead” series on TV. Most of us nieces and nephews remember that it was Aunt Donna who introduced us to Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing and Lon Chaney if we were lucky enough to spend a Saturday afternoon with her watching horror movies. Aunt Donna was an easy going soul. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Donna is survived by her sister, Dorothy Nordstrom, formerly of Grand Blanc; nephew, Gary (Donna) Nordstrom of Arlington Heights, IL; niece, Linda (Larry) Smith of Linden, MI; niece, Bonnie (Dan) Jones of Flint, MI; niece, Billie Jo (Rick) Hooper of Lennon, MI; nephew, John (LuAnn O’Dell) Lineberry of St. Helen, MI; niece, Leanne (Jerry) Feher of Beverly Hills, FL, niece, Sandra (Norman) Miller of Central City, PA; several great nieces and nephews as well as several great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maurice D. (Rese) Lineberry; and her daughter, Cathy. Due to COVID-19, there will be no public visitation or service at the funeral home. A private graveside service with military honors has taken place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Grand Blanc. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at Maple Woods Manor skilled nursing facility in Clio where Donna resided since November, 2018. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Valley Area Agency on Aging, 225 E. 5th Street #200, Flint, MI 48502, in memory of Donna. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family on-line at www.hillfh.com. |
