DUNLOP, Bruce James “BJ” – Of Flushing, formerly of Fenton, age 77,
died Sunday, November 15, 2015.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church, 600 North Adelaide, Fenton, Father Dwight Ezop officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church in Fenton.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 12 noon-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Dunlop will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Bruce was born in Flint, Michigan on October 29, 1938.
He graduated from Flint Northern High School Class of 1956.
He took pride in his employment at Coca Cola in Flint after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Dunlop was employed by IBEW #948 as an Electrician for 18 years before working for General Motors Fisher Coldwater Road for 21 years, retiring in 1996.
Bruce was a dedicated parishioner at St. John Catholic Church.
He was also a member of Moose Lodge #430, Fenton Eagles Aerie #2460, UAW Local 326 and IBEW #948 and was a member of American Legion Post #64.
He was passionate about spending time with his family at the Higgins Lake Cottage and golfing with his buddies.
Surviving are children, Matthew and wife Kelly Dunlop,
Dave and wife Sue Miller of Flushing,
Christine (Miller) and husband James Brooks of Texas,
Tara Dunlop-Kimbrue and husband Todd Kimbrue of Swartz Creek,
Benjamin and wife Mandi Dunlop of Flushing;
grandchildren, Reganne, Alaska, Christopher, Jefferson, Savanah, Sullivan, Ryan, Daniel and wife Hope, Casey, Tanner, Callyssa, Jasmine, Joslynn, Jessica, Grace, Griffin, Gentry, Mallori and Bishop;
great-granddaughter, Ashlynn and another expected in the spring;
sister, Denise and husband Robert Hooks of Lake Fenton;
sister-in-law, Sheila Dunlop of Minnesota;
Carolyn Curry Dunlop siblings and their families;
many nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to the entire staff at Medi Lodge of Montrose for all their care and support.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, on October 6, 2004; his parents, James "Scotty" and Patricia Dunlop; brother, James Dunlop III.
