CONLEN, Robert Ross -- Age 90 of Linden formerly of Fenton died Friday October 10 2014 at the Oaks at Woodfield. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday October 17, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 806 Main Street, Fenton with Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Friends may call at the church at 10 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Robert was born in Flint April 1, 1924. He married Audrey E. Morse Bedford in Flushing in 1967. He was a graduate of Flint Technical High School in 1942. Robert served in the Army-Air Corp during WWII in Europe in the 8th and 9th Bomber Group. Mr. Conlen served an apprenticeship in Tool and Die and attended GMI during this period. He then was employed by Automobile Carriers rising to the position of General Manager. After that he was the Vice President and General Manager of Janesville Auto Transport in Janesville Wisconsin. After that he and his loving partner and wife Audrey purchased and operated the Fenton A&W. In his retirement he was a driver for Gerych Flowers and Gifts until 2004. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Curtis- Wolverton VFW post in Fenton. Bob leaves behind his wife Audrey; daughter, Vicki West of Texas; son, Ronald of Flushing; stepchildren, Daniel and wife Paula Bedford of Flushing, David and wife Judith Bedford of Boise, Idaho, Dean and wife Katie Bedford of Gainesville, Florida; several grandchildren; great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Doris; son, Michael; stepson, Douglas; stepdaughter, Laurie; two sisters and a brother.
