BELILL, Emerson Eugene – of Montrose, age 90, died peacefully, Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Emerson will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. Military honors under the direction of Montrose American Legion Post will take place at the church after the mass. Cremation to follow. Family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Tuesday from 3-7 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of mass at 11 AM. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Exceptional Horseback Riders of Saginaw County "Tyler's Driving Program."
Emerson was born October 13, 1925 in Montrose to the late Felix and Margaret (Morris) Belill. He was a Montrose resident his entire life. He served in the US Army during WW II as a chief clerk. He was awarded the following decorations: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 bronze battle star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze battle star, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan and Army Commendation. He was united in marriage to Donna Wenn in Saginaw on November 8, 1947. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2015. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Emerson was employed by McDonald Dairy for 30 years retiring in 1978. Emerson was an avid golfer and shot a hole-in-one at the age of 80. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, farming, family time and always enjoyed desserts.
Surviving are: Children: Thomas Belill , Sue Bennett (Jim Kroeger), Phil (Shari) Belill, Tina Bennett, Tim (Cheryl) Belill and Sheri Belill-House (Craig Stemper); Grandchildren: Alecia, Scott, Kristy, Jordain, Morgan, Nick, Crystal, Nathan, Alisha, Tyler and extended grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; Sister, Rose (Robert) Wendling.
