Follis, Gertrude ("Traudl") of Flushing, age 80, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Hyde Park Memory Care. Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church before the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Traudl was born Gertraude Anna Kaiser in Vienna, Austria on August 25, 1935, the daughter of Friedrich and Elfriede (Pinggera) Kaiser. She married C. Gene Follis in Vienna on July 11, 1957. Gertrude's mother and grandfather Pinggera were very successful artists and her father rose to second highest executive in the Austrian National Oil Company. She received a doctorate in history from the University of Vienna in 1958 and she was also a graduate of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Gertrude later attended Hurley School of Nursing and graduated with honors in 1981. She was an oncology RN at Hurley until her retirement in September of 1997. Gertrude loved gourmet cooking, photography, traveling, and flower gardening.
Gertrude is survived by her husband, Dr. C. Gene Follis of Flushing; daughter, Anita F. Lees of East Lansing; son, Clifton G. Follis II of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Morgan E. Lees and Dylan T. Lees of East Lansing. |
