SMITH, Helen Mae (Mattson) – Of Flint, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at American House North.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in Edwards Township Cemetery 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 in West Branch, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Visitation 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Helen will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Helen was born in Alger, Michigan on August 30, 1926, daughter of the late Axel and Gladys (Hamilton) Mattson.
She graduated valedictorian from West Branch High School in 1943. Helen was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Surviving are children, Karen Simmons, Peter (Jan) Smith, Victor (Alice) Smith, Monica (Bob) Taylor, Carol Smith, Diane (Ken) Martin and Greg Smith;
16 grandchildren;
7 great-grandchildren;
sister, Margaret Mattson of West Branch;
sisters-in-law, Madge (Joe) Buchko and Gwen Frank;
brother-in-law, Ralph Rogers;
numerous nephews and nieces.
