ALVORD, Lawrence Wayne - Of Flint, age 89, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Dave Hintz officiating.
Burial in Millington Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
Visitation 4-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lawrence was born in Flint on January 20, 1923, Lawrence served in the United States Army during World War II on the Island of Saipan. On October 12, 1946, he married Wanda Czerniec. Lawrence was employed with Buick Motor Division for 32 years. He enjoyed getting In the car and going for drives and attending family gatherings. He also enjoyed bowling and loved watching the Detroit Tigers.
Surviving are wife, Wanda, children, Larry and wife Gloria of Davison, Keith and with Diane of Kalamazoo;
grandchildren, Chad and wife Melissa, Amy and husband Mitch Whisler, Tyler, Brad and wife Becky, and Kylee and Kari;
great-grandchildren, Logan, Riley, Brendan, Nolan, Benjamin, Jacob;
Special thanks, to Marilyn and Charles and wife Catherine Alvord.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
