Tower, Lila Jean of Flushing, age 85, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Matuzzo will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lila was born in Marion, Michigan on January 10, 1933, the daughter of Elmer and Lois (Davis) Thompson. She married William Tower on July 1, 1950 and celebrated 57 years together. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2008. Lila worked for 27 years in the Beecher School District, retiring as a Food Service Director. She enjoyed spending her winters in Lake Wales, Florida. Lila was a member of TOPS. She loved quilting, square dancing, line dancing, and gardening.
Lila is survived by her children, Ronald and wife Mickey Tower of Burton, Sandy and husband Mitch VanBuskirk of Farwell, Larry and wife Laura Tower of Flint, Terry and wife Becky Tower of Flint, Jack Tower, Jr. of Oscoda; grandchildren, Deana, Kristi, Kevin, Ryan, Gina, Jason; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Merle Thompson, Robert Thompson; sister, Barbara Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Audra Tower and grandson, Gary VanBuskirk.
