DANKO, Melissa Lee (McFarlin }, of Flushing, age 51, died Friday, April 17, 2020 at McLaren Flint. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced later. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to: McLaren Hospice and Home Care Foundation, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison, Michigan 48423. Melissa was born on February 25, 1969 in Flint, MI to Deborah Sue McFarlin and Elton Allan Rank. She graduated from Flint Southwestern in 1987. She married John Danko on October 15, 1994. Melissa was an avid race car enthusiast and knew more about racing cars and engines than most of the people who raced them. She had the most beautiful handwriting and was extremely artistic. She loved singing karaoke and there was not a song written that she could not recite every lyric. She also had a very strong attachment to her stepfather Lynn McKenzie and loved snowmobiling with him. Melissa’s family remember her as a fiesty and passionate woman who protected the people she loved. Her heart was her gift to this world. She gave unconditional loyalty, friendship, complete honesty, and love to those close to her without fail. She raised three wonderful boys and loved them with everything she had. Melissa is survived by her husband, John Danko of Flushing; sons, Richard Pepitone II, Kyle (Lauren) Danko, and Joseph (Allison) Danko; daughters, Tessa Cook, and K.C. Danko; mother, Deborah (Ronald) VanEckhoutte; siblings, Helen (Jeff) Hamby, Chance VanEckhoutte, Heather (Shawn) Ramsey, Becky (Kenneth) Ostin, Jeff Rank, Jason Rank, Carrie (the late Matthew) McKenzie, Douglas (the late Robin) May, Randy (the late Patricia) Genett; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Elton Allan Rank; sister, Patricia Genett; brother, Matthew McKenzie;sister; Robin May; sister, Debra Kaake; and son-in-law, John Cook IV. |
