Nancy Carrol Spencer, Age 77, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Kranur Manor in Burton, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Gary Currell officiating.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home,
Nancy was born January 16, 1942 in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of William Wesley and Velma Marie Metcalf (Moore). She married Wayne E. Spencer on March 22, 1958 in Flint, Michigan and was the proud mom to six children. Her heart was her family. She was a natural-born mom, not only to her kids and grandkids but to her nieces, nephews, neighborhood kids and the many children she provided child care for over the years. She loved to cook and was proud to have catered numerous church events. Her chicken and dumplings were the hit of many family reunions. She was an avid gardener whose canned vegetables were coveted by family and friends. After the loss of her husband, she learned to drive and received her first license at age 45. She was then hired as custodian of her church, Bethel Assembly of God and became a fiercely independent lady. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, daughter, Margaret; daughter-in-law, Collette; grandson, Justin and many loved family members. She is survived by children, Cindy (Russ) Winters, Darold, Shelley (Mark) Dennis, Bill (Patti) Spencer, and James (Amy) Spencer, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the staff of KraNur Manor for their compassionate care over the last 2 1/2 years. Nancy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
