BRANOFF, Antonios (Tony) passed away peacefully on Thursday December 20, 2012 at home.
Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 South Center Rd., Burton, MI 48519,

Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery
Visitation 1-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Parastas Service will be held 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Branoff will be at the church 10am Monday until the time of the service.

Tony was born in Bouf, Macedonia, in 1934, his family moved to Flint, Michigan in 1936. He attended Whittier Jr High, then Flint Central. As a youth he honed his football skills at the Mott Foundation Football League program which had just been started by Mr. Mott. He excelled at football and was recruited on a full scholarship to play starting Halfback with the University of Michigan in 1952. A four-year regular at the University of Michigan and an All-Big Ten Conference selection in 1955. First sophomore ever named most valuable at Michigan. Played in both the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine all-star football games after final season at Michigan., He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, a Druid in the Honor Society and elected to the Board of Control of Intercollegiate Athletes. His professional career was as Personnel Director of Cushing Malloy Lithographers in Ann Arbor, where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 2003. An avid golfer, paddleballer and sports enthusiast throughout his life, he was a member of the University of Michigan Victors Club, inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
Tony is survived by his sons Anthony, Timothy (wife Karen) and Terry, his grand daughters Sarah and Julia Branoff and sister Anna Branoff. Survived also by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many cousins, relatives and friends.
