JOSEPH, Martha Rose “Nana”, as she was lovingly called by all - Of Grand Blanc, age 75, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Frank Yount and Joseph V. Peera officiating.
Burial in Assyrian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Visitation 5-9pm Saturday and 12noon-9pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Martha was born in Flint on June 6, 1937, a direct descendent of the Armenian Genocide. On July 2, 1955, she married Robert Joseph in Flint. She was a member and spiritual leader of Victory Tabernacle Church and former member of Faith Tabernacle Church. She led Brownies and Girl Scouts. Martha was an art lover who collected beautiful pieces. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Martha was also a past member and supporter of the Assyrian-American Club of Flint and was the best cook on the planet; never used a recipe. Her greatest joy was her family, and her deepest wish was to share the love and power of The Lord through his son, Jesus Christ.
Surviving are husband, Bob;
children, Marti Ann Joseph, Susan and husband Alex Akins, Noonie and husband David Chapple, Jim and wife Debbi, and Robert Jr. and wife Deborah;
15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren;
brothers, Andrew Jr. and wife Patricia A. Simon and John A. and wife Patricia M. Simon;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Jane and brother-in-law, Samuel McCormick.
