Thomas Anthony Cameron, 71 of Durand, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand. The Rev. Fr. Bill Lugger will officiate with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gaines. The family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Durand on Thursday from 12 noon until 9:00 PM.
Thomas was born in Gladwin, MI on June 20, 1945, the son of Alexander & Vera (Tenwalde) Cameron. For the past 50 years he has resided in Durand. On September 25, 1965 he married Beverly Jane Heffner in Gladwin, MI. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and the farm. Mr. Cameron worked for 35 years for General Motors Truck and Bus in Flint before retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly, 3 children; Brent (Holly) Cameron of Durand, Angie (Larry) Patsey of Lansing, and Chad Cameron of Durand, 11 grandchildren; Jordan (Jordin), Cassy, Lindsay, Darrin, Jr., Madalyn, Jessi, Alex, Eric, Isabel, Corinn, and Fawn, great granddaughter Asher and a great granddaughter due in August, his brother Larry (Louise) Cameron of Standish, sisters Jean Hickerson of Gaylord, Patricia Haring of Clare and Susan Lang of Beaverton, brother-law Lyle (Deb) McLincha of Bentley, sisters-in-law Dorothy Cameron of Coleman, Joyce Cameron, Joanne Cameron, both of Gladwin, several nieces, nephews and daughter-in-law Kelli Brant. He was predeceased by his son, Darrin in 1995, three infant siblings: Robert, Marilyn and Mildred Cameron; sisters Lucille Plude and Helen Ballard, brother Paul Cameron, sister Agnes Oard, brother Ken Cameron, his twin sister Kathy McLincha, brothers Duane Cameron and Richard Cameron, sister Marcele R.
