GRAB, Mike – of Flushing, MI, age 89, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Memorial Service, under the auspices of the Davison Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Council #4090 and 4th Degree Assembly #0523, will be held 6 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broome Park Men’s Summer Baseball League, in Mike’s memory.
Mike was born in Flint, MI on September 14, 1928, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Ondovcsik) Grab. He graduated from Northern High School Class of 1946. Mike enjoyed his years working at Mullins Sporting Goods in Flint, MI. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. Mike married Ruth Murcko on September 1, 1951 and they moved to Davison, MI. He retired from Chevy Metal Fab in 1984 after 31 years of service. After retirement, Mike and Ruth moved to Hemet, CA, returning to Flushing, MI in 2005. He was an avid golfer, baseball fan, a charter member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #4090. Mike and his friend, Paul Snitko, were known as the “Box Seat Boys” of Broome Park in Flint, MI where they religiously attended baseball games.
Mike is survived by 6 children, Michael Grab, Gregory Grab, Matthew Grab, Laurie (Stuart) Billey, Lisa (Joe) Guertin and Stephanie (Peter) Harris; 10 grandchildren, Lucas (Jamie), James (Kacey), Carmen (Nick), Kelsey (Stephen), Steven, Chelsea (Todd), Celeste (Bobby), Tabatha (Spencer), David (Jeanne Marie) and Robert (Jenifer); numerous beloved great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Lucas and Dolores Cox; brother, Nicholas Postemski; many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on June 17, 2011 and son, Mark Grab on November 7, 2006.
