McCALLISTER, Edwin John "Mac" -- Age 77 of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, February 20, 2016. Funeral services will be held 12PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will take place from 2-4PM and 6-8PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home, and from 10AM until the time of service Wednesday at church. Contributions may be made to Mission 22.
Edwin was born April 3, 1938 in Flint, the son of John H. and Helen E. (Maloney) McCallister. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1956 and married Mary M. Michael in Flint on September 19, 1959. Edwin proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved baseball and played in a the minor league on a AAA team. He worked as a switching supervisor with Ameritech and retired in December of 1991. He is a past member of VFW Post 3720, Durand Eagles Club and the Swartz Creek American Legion. Edwin like to scuba dive, enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family.
Survived by: wife, Mary; children, Michael E. (Maureen) McCallister, and Lisa (Bruce) Pohl; 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Molly, Drake and Kendall; siblings, Robert McCallister and Sharon (Merlin) Bellinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 siblings.
