SMITH, Charles Henry – of Burton, MI, age 88, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Genesee Care Center. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Mt. Morris Community Church, 7245 N. Center Rd., Mt Morris, MI 48458; Pastor Aaron Burton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society, in Charles’s memory.
Charles was born in Flint, MI on October 6, 1928, son of the late Henry and Margaret (Ulman) Smith. He was a Class 1946 graduate of Kearsley High School. Charles then attended the General Motors Institute (Kettering). He was employed with Fisher Body as an Accounting Engineer, retiring after 40 years of service. Charles married Ruth Marie Young on January 5, 1991. He was a member of Mt. Morris Community Church.
Charles is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ruth; 4 children, Carrie Lee Rumbold Suzann Hinshaw, Mike (Rhonda) Bailey and Ellen Johnston; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Anita (Robert) Cudney, Joyce Vavro and Arthur Smith; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by son, James Lee Smith; 3 siblings, Carol Huskey, Jan Henderson and Donald Smith.
