DUTHORN, LeRoy Jack - Of Grand Blanc, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 S. Holly Road, Grand Blanc, Pastor Bob Scott officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans DAV (Charitable Service Trust) or Faith Lutheran Church.

Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.

Visitation 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at church until the time of the service.

LeRoy was born in West Allis, Wisconsin on August 8, 1934, the son of the late Jacob and Carrie (Siegmann) DuThorn and he was an only child.

On June 11, 1955, he married Marilyn Lutterman in Huntsville, Alabama.

He was a loving, caring and devoted husband of almost 64 years. Marilyn preceded him in death on March 8, 2019.

LeRoy was a 46 year member of Faith Lutheran Church.

He attended college at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and subsequently served proudly in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was a Sergeant serving at White Sands Missile Range near White Sands, New Mexico.

LeRoy was an Engineer with Cutler-Hammer in Milwaukee, which became Eaton Corporation. He finished his career with Metro Fabrication in Freeland, Michigan.

He enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden and caring for his lawn and yard.

LeRoy spent many years serving the church as its Chairman, as well as on numerous committees, including Stewardship, Personnel, various Building and Calling Committees throughout his life.

LeRoy enjoyed playing in Dart Ball and Bowling Leagues, along with Card Clubs and playing Cribbage anytime he could find a game.

In his spare time he loved reading novels and could also be found reading books with his grandchildren.

In retirement he enjoyed spending time helping young children with reading and writing at some of the local elementary schools.

He was a loving father and dedicated grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

LeRoy radiated love for his family and friends, and kept a deep faith in his Lord Jesus Christ.

Leroy is survived by his children, Susan (Jim) Putnam, Randall DuThorn, Scott DuThorn (Cynthia Goforth), Paul (Candida) DuThorn, and Thomas (Theresa) DuThorn;

grandchildren, Christopher Putnam (Marissa Lizza), Michael (Lindsey) Putnam, Rachael (Jordan) Cushman, Chelsea DuThorn, Ashlyn DuThorn, Tony Freund (Renee Jensen), Megan DuThorn (Jake Standish), Austin DuThorn;

great-grandchildren, Emilia and Cameron Putnam, Jackson, Kennedy and Lincoln Cushman, Maxx Mayencourt, and Johnny DuThorn;

sisters-in-law, Jeanette Van Dorn and Rosalie Lutterman;
many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Putnam,
