CAMPEAU, William A. – of Flint, age 91, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Sunday and 12-4 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice Care Center or Justice for Lily.
William was born in Saginaw, MI on March 10, 1920, son of the late William and Ruth (Butler) Campeau. He married Jessie Della Thompson in October of 1935, of this union was born Robert Lee and Marita Sue Campeau (Ruben) Vasquez. Jessie preceded him in death in 1975. William then married Donna (Baird) Ursuy on October 16, 1983, of this union he became father to Susan Gatlin, Theresa Ursuy, Jane Craft, Jenifer (Robert) Johnson, John (Lisa) Ursuy, Rosemary (Scott) Nitzschke. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He was an engineer for GM and retired in 1975 from Buick. William was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Big Brothers of Genesee County. He was an avid golfer, artist and Red Wings fan.
William is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; sister Joan VanSickle; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 infant brothers; sister, Betty Smith; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Campeau; granddaughter, Anna Ursuy.
