YORKE, Francis A. - Of Flint, age 95, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street in Flint,
Father Frederick H. Taggart O.S.A. officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the wishes of the family. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Yorke will be at the church 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass. He was born in Flint, Michigan on November 7 1915, the son of William and Kathleen Yorke and had been a lifelong resident of the Flint area. He married Marion (Cotton) in April 1940. He was a member and former Usher of St Matthews Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Yorke retired from GM Fisher Body in 1964 after 38 years of service. Surviving are two children, Dennis and wife Polly of Swartz Creek, Sue Roach of Flint; five grandchildren, Jeff Yorke, Amy Gatica, Mandy Kerspilo, Brooke Arcaro of Florida, Brad Leatherman of Georgia;
seven great-grandchildren and sister, Luella Yorke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian and daughter, Nancy Leatherman.
