SWIRE, Elton P. – of Clio, age 86, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 2, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Susan Ramage to officiate. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-7 PM and on Monday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.
Elton was born October 29, 1927 in Highland Park to the late Percy and Merle (Pemberton) Swire. He lived in the Flint area most of his life. Elton served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WW II. He married Eileen Ramage November 1947. He retired from Ternstedt in 1983 with 30 years seniority as a die maker. He was a member of the UAW Local #326 and the AA in Mt. Morris for 30 years.
Surviving are: wife, Eileen of Clio; sons, Steven Swire of Clio, George (Penny) Swire of Titusville, FL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Naomi Bryant of Clio; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: a sister, Anna Jean Swire in 2008; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Swire in 2011.
